Squash and courgette growing guides


I hope you have been enjoying some warmer and drier weather where you are - here in Devon we've finally had some good days and are hopeful of many more to come :)

There are lots of seeds that can be sown in April, and now things are warming up, seedings will grow fast.

Courgettes and Squashes

We will very soon be sowing our squashes and courgettes.

They are best sown into large modules or 9cm pots and then transplanted outside after the last risk of frost pas passed.

This coming week, here in the Northern hemisphere, we are welcoming in the spring equinox on Friday 20th - also known as Ostara in the Wheel of the Year calendar. March is almost upon us, and with it the days are lengthening and our prop benches are about to get busy - March is a big seed sowing month! As the season changes, and the soil begins to warm, the signs of spring around you can act as a good seed sowing prompt - if you’re starting to see weeds sprouting in your beds then it's time to get your own seedlings started!
